My name is Katie…and I’m a cleaning/organizing nut.
I’m not above alphabetizing a spice rack. Junk drawers give me hives. I’ve spent a small fortune on Magic Erasers. The Container Store makes me weak in the knees.
I’m also the mother of four adorable, sweet, squishy, smart, funny…and messy kiddos. I’m all for letting kids be kids. Play in the mud. Bring your rock collection inside. Unleash your inner Picasso through fingerpaint.
Motherhood has forced me to let some of my neuroses go. Life is too short, and childhood is far too precious. But notice I said some of my neuroses. I remain a neat freak at heart. Ah, the whir of a vacuum, the smell of Pine-Sol… am I going too far here?
Anyway, after years of this mommy gig, I’ve found what works for me. A healthy balance. This blog isn’t about perfection or trying to do it all. Rather, this is a judgement-free place to glean some ideas and figure out an approach that fits your personality.
Organization should make life easier, not more stressful. I think so many people feel intimidated by the process because they expect a gut-wrenching, time-consuming, guilt-inducing, and exhausting experience. And then, if they manage to get the clutter under control, they don’t think the organization can be maintained.
What if I told you there’s a way to keep your house organized that doesn’t involve ripping your hair out? There’s a way to keep your house clean, even with little ones running wild. There’s a way to do all of this and still have free time (in fact, it might save you time in the long run)!
I’ll share real-life tricks and habits that work for me. No one has time for those unattainable Pinterest posts where everything seems so perfect AND totally doable (I could write a whole blog solely based on my Pinterest fails). Of course, there’s no “one size fits all” answer, but my tips can be tweaked to work for even the messiest of individuals.
I’ll end on this note, which is the foundation of Faithfully Organized: Without God, I can do nothing. Without Him, I am nothing. So you’ll find Biblical truth sprinkled among my posts. The path to an organized home can seem hopeless and daunting, but we’re not in this alone! “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” -Philippians 4:13, NKJV
So, if you’ve ever felt like setting fire to your playroom or sobbing into a pile of dirty laundry, you’re in good company. Grab a cup of coffee and settle into a comfy chair-or lock yourself in a closet where the kids can’t find you-and click away!
